The Man Without a Head

New York: Covici Friede, 1936. First Edition.

A scarce book to find in the wild, let alone in this kind of condition. Vintage murder mystery set in Taos, New Mexico.  The town's most colorful character, old Edward Ponsonby, ends up being murdered in his dismal, ramshackle house.  This in spite of its barred and boarded-over windows, locked doors and a virtual armory that Ol' Edward had hidden in each room.  So who murdeerd Edward? Did someone really cut his head off?

Octavo (5.5" x 7.75"); 254 pp; publisher's black cloth with title stamped brightly in yellow on spine and top panel; first edition; small assorted marks and bumps on top and lower panels; corners sharp but edge wear noticeable; original dustjacket; top & bottom of spine wear; yellow topspin; solid binding and clean text block with no marks. Dustjacket is unclipped (with price) with some soiling on outside edges and minor loss at top and bottom of spine. Pinhole through center of spine. Overall a very good book in a very good jacket.
